Yes it’s a cliche by this point, but only because it rings so true: many lives came to a standstill during the pandemic, mine included. My life felt instantly unmoored, and I couldn’t sleep. So I got out of bed and sought out the ocean, to catch the way sun light so delicately wakes up the sea at sunrise. It became increasingly difficult as state beaches were soon ordered to close in the Bay Area and they posted rangers at the entrances to deter would-be beach goers. Taking these photos brought me a sense of tranquility when everything felt very uncertain.
